Book Description
The incidence of angle-closure glaucoma is common throughout Asia, and numerous people have lost their sight as a result. Before the AACGC (Asian Angle-Closure Glaucoma Club) was established, there had been no sufficient coordination among glaucoma specialists in Asian countries with regard to terminology, classification, and pathophysiology as part of a scholarly effort among glaucoma specialists. This book is intended to provide information on the basic and essential concepts and mechanisms of angle-closure glaucoma, and the latest developments in diagnosis and treatment. The AACGC was committed to developing a book that is easy to read and understand through sufficient illustrations, figures, and tables, and more importantly, is clinically useful, effective, and necessary. The idea of the AACGC is to make it the ‘angle-closure glaucoma bible’ for clinicians and students across the world. Each chapter of the book was assigned to glaucoma specialists specializing in the respective area of research, and all members in Asian countries were encouraged to contribute. The topic of each chapter was fixed, and authors were invited through the regional editors by referring to research findings presented in meetings.

Book Description
For over 2000 years our culture has believed in the possibility of a single true account of the world. Now this age is coming to a close. As a result there is a deep unease. We are lost both as individuals, and as a culture. In the new relativistic, post-modern era, we have no history, no right or moral action, and no body of knowledge. In their place is a plethora of alternative, and sometimes incompatible theories from 'fuzzy logic' to 'consilience' proposing a theory of everything. Closure is a response to this crisis. It is a radically new story about the nature of ourselves and of the world. Closure exposes the central questions of contemporary philosophy: language and meaning, of the individual and identity, of truth and reality, but it is also philosophical in the broader everyday sense that it enables us to make sense of where and who we are. A central principle, the process of closure, is shown to be at the heart of experience and language. As a theory of knowledge it has dramatic consequences for our understanding of the sciences, involving a reinterpretation of what science does and how it is able to do it. It similarly proposes a profound shift in the role of art and religion. But, above all, it reshapes our understanding of ourselves and the organisation of society, our goals and our capacity to achieve them. A superb new account of how order is created out of disorder, Closure is an exhilarating work of conceptual geography.

Book Description
This report examines how the Post Office closure programme is being implemented and areas where it could be improved. The Network Change Programme began in July 2007 and the final consultation is scheduled to end in October 2008. This challenging timetable has meant that consultation has been curtailed, and the whole process has been rushed. The Committee does not accept that a reduction to 7,500 offices is acceptable, and a minimum of 11,500 fixed outlets is recommended. Post Office Ltd should be clearer in its approach to public consultation about closures. The Committee is also concerned that access criteria - proximity of population to offices, local transport and geographical constraints - have not been fully taken into account, nor the principle of services being fully accessible to all. The process has been improving with more experience, but there is still room for further improvement and clarity.

Book Description
This book presents a much-needed review of commercial closures for bottles and jars used in America prior to World War II. Archaeological attention to commercial closures has been rather limited. This is surprising given that data derived from bottles and jars pertain to a wide range of studies, including chronological control, trade, site functions, and methods of manufacture. Closures are an integral part of these studies, becoming particularly important after a spectacular variety of metal and glass caps in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. This volume-provides a comprehensive review, including detailed closure definitions, as well as glass finishes;-discusses the history of the development and impact of the hermetic seal in commercial closures;-will appeal to students, professionals, and collectors studying this common historic artifact class.
