Book Description
1930's London - A backstreet saga full of hopes, dreams and the fight for survival. Perfect for the fans of Rosie Clarke and Lindsey Hutchinson. Work at Price's Candle Factory in Battersea is tedious for intelligent, seventeen-year-old Hillie Hardwick, but she knows she is lucky to have a job at all. Her home life is no better, as she constantly battles with her exacting and bullying father in order to protect her mother and five younger siblings from his abuse. Her only solace is her loving relationship with the chaotic Parker family and her best friend, Gert Parker. When matters violently escalate for Hillie, smitten Jack-the-Lad Jimmy Baxter seems her only salvation. But could this be the biggest mistake of her life, and should she be looking for protection nearer home? A story that crackles with unease where courage and friendship are the only hope. What readers are saying: 'This is a great saga that packs so much emotion and passion into it that you are swept away' Dash Fan Book Reviews. 'This is a wonderful saga ... In my opinion, this is her best book yet. I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this one as a truly great read' Good 'N Ready. 'I really enjoyed this book, it has some great characters and I loved the setting!' Donna's Book Blog. 'For me it was a fast read, really well written storyline with characters you get invested in' Holly Senecal, NetGalley.

'Their combined passion for fragrance is infectious, and they love teaching.' Telegraph Not only is candle making and scent development a wonderfully relaxing craft, it is also a unique way to create personalised gifts or to create a signature scent for your own home or special event. Earl of East London Paul and Niko of Earl of East London share the secrets behind the gorgeously scented candles they create at their studio. As well as the basic steps required to prepare and pour candles at home, the pair include a fascinating exploration of the art of building scent, so you too can create your own signature fragrances. Paul and Niko are devoted to capturing memories and feelings in scent, and explain how to combine different essential oils to trigger different emotions, whether that may be a recollection childhood holidays conjured up by a hint of mandarin and seaweed, or an imagined walk in your grandparents' garden, scented with basil and parsley.

Book Description
Years ago, I met a friend in London I had not seen in many years. He posed a very interesting question to me. He wanted me to give him a statement on Jomo Kenyatta, who was then incarcerated as the leader of the Mau-Mau uprising in Kenya. Though I did not have an answer for my friend, I kept his question in my mind. Then, years later, my wife and I decided to visit Kenya on Safari with friends, which I recount here, vividly in this book. They were like two birds set free, hoop the coop, flew away from their prison abode, caged for decades, until Februrary 1990, on that sunny day in Capetown when I saw Nelson Mandella, live on CNN Television with his wife Winnie Mandela. They strolled through the gates of pollsmore Prison, away from 37 years of incarceration by the Apartheid Regime. That experience intrigued me enough that my wife and I decided, with a group of friends, to visit South Africa and see what would happen to us as a group of African Americans; it was while there that I touched yellow, Ebony Gold, as detailed in my book.
